Answers to common questions and information about the system
•
Email the Ratings Officer if you have any ratings queries.
The ABSP rating system was initially based on that used by the British Chess Federation. From Jan 1st 1999 a
weighted rolling system
was adopted. Players obtain a rating by taking part in one of the ABSP's sanctioned
tournaments.
The ABSP also maintains a titles system, for those who perform particularly well over a number of years, and there are also annual awards for the Most Improved and Highest Rated players.
