OnBoard is the official magazine of the ABSP.It is edited by Alec Webb andis issued to all ABSP members six times per year.

As well as containing the latest ratings list and events diary at time of goingto press and all the latest news and developments in more details than can be foundon this website, the magazine features many other articles and stories not to befound elsewhere:

  • details of forthcoming AGMs or committee meetings

Onwords was a Scrabble Enthusiasts magazine created, edited and published by top player Allan Simmons 1979-2009.The magazine celebrated its 100th edition with a special bumper issue.The 101st edition of OnwordsRight from the start, Onwords has been by far the best "unofficial" magazinefor Scrabble players of all levels --- issued quarterly, each issue was filled withuseful word lists, intriguing puzzles and special features galore.Often, one player was also invited to share their "Words in the Wilderness", a kind ofDesert Island Discs where an expert player recalls their favourite plays of all time;annotated games and cartoons are also regular features. Allan is currently working on providing a CD with scanned copies of all 122 issues (expected late 2011). If you are interested in purchasing this then contact Allan via with your name and address.

Word Ways: The Journal of Recreational Linguistics has been published quarterly since 1968, and contains many items of interestWord Ways magazineto Scrabble players who enjoy playing with words and anagramming. The magazine, which was founded by the highly-respectedDmitri Borgmann, has been at the forefront of wordplay for many years and regularly features puzzles, articles and letters from Scrabbleenthusiasts all over the world.

If the mathematical side of Scrabble appeals to you then a trial subscription to Word Ways ishighly recommended if you are prepared to invest the £21 required for four issues. The magazine has its own website at which contains some sample articles and contact details for the editors.

Forwords magazineForwords is the official Scrabble magazine of the New ZealandAssociation of Scrabble Players.It contains many interesting articles and cartoons not to be found elsewhere, and is easilyavailable to UK subscribers.

NASPA BulletinThe NASPA Bulletin is the official organ of the North American SCRABBLE Players Association. It is published monthly, and while the current issue is available only to NASPA members, back issues may be freely downloaded from here

The Bulletin includes monthly contests and puzzles, results of all rated tournaments, and feature articles and photos about competitive Scrabble play in North America..
