About the ABSP

The Association of British Scrabble Players (ABSP) was formed in 1987 as a not-for-profit association to promote interest in the playing of Scrabble. It co-ordinates tournaments and the provision of a rating system for players in the UK, as well as providing information and support to members, tournament organisers and tournament directors.

Our members range from the best players in the UK to people who enjoy tournaments mainly as social events.Tournament Scrabble - great fun!

We also have non-tournament players who are members just to receive our newsletter, filled with Scrabble-related articles and puzzles, which is published every month. Other publications, including tournament officials' handbooks are on the publications page.

Players at the 2002 BMSC We have been providing support and resources for all tournament organisers since 1987, and we maintain a ratings system and an associated results database.

We maintain a Tournament Calendar of upcoming rated events. New players are especially welcome at all events. Come along and play! We have some hints & tips for players who are new to tournaments. Plus, new players at their first tournament can get their first year of ABSP membership FREE! Ask the tournament organiser at the event for details.
