John Grayson is ABSP Ratings Officer, having taken over from Andrew
Fisher in September 2001.
His first tournament was in 1978 in the days of high-score play and Shorter Oxford dictionary. He represented the UK at the 1993, 1997 and 2001 World Championships. His non-playing activities include a short spell as a committee member (Tournament Coordinator) in the early 1990s and variously as director and adjudicator at the annual Newport tournament. Away from Scrabble his interests include climatology, railway history and cinema, especially the film noir genre of the 1940s and 1950s.
