| overskate | in ice hockey, to skate beyond the puck, thus losing control of it. |
| passout | in ice hockey, a pass by an attacking player from behind the opposition goal line. |
| puckster | a hockey player. |
| shinney | the game of hockey; so called because of the liability of the players to receive blows on the shin; (verb) to play this. |
| shinny | an Irish game resembling hockey; (verb) to climb up e.g. a tree. |
| shinty | an Irish game resembling hockey; (verb) to play shinty. |
| slapshot | in ice hockey, a fast powerful shot. |
| spinarama | (Canadian) an evasive move, especially in hockey, consisting of an abrupt 360-degree turn. |
| stickhandle | to maneuver a puck in hockey with a stick. |
| wrister | a type of shot in hockey. |
