Phil is an electronics engineer turned software engineer. He enjoys playing various board games but his only trips to Scrabble tournaments have been when roped in to operate the computer and adjudicate. His dealings with Scrabble folk have led to him writing software for running Swiss system tournaments, for the ABSP Ratings system and for organising the London Scrabble League.

Besides software, interests include music, walking, cooking and brain teasers. Pet hates include inconsistent rules (such as abbreviations like pH being allowed in Scrabble).
