Karen is the Youth Scrabble Officer of the ABSP, succeeding Kat Wilkes.
Karen has played Scrabble for 50 years, having been taught by her grandmother as a child. She has played competitively for 13 years, together with husband, Paul (Construction Manager at Staythorpe Power Station, Notts) and teenage son, Alastair, the youngest of their five children.
At Kings Cup (Thailand) in 2007 she took out both the Best Senior award plus the Best Lady award making her the Best Little Old Lady!
Karen served 4 years as Rules Coordinator for CASPA (Scrabble Australia) and helped redesign the Australian rating system in 2006, as part of their Ratings Advisory Committee.
Now retired, Karen previously trained managers and supervisors (she has qualifications in Economics and Business Administration). She now devotes much of her time to travelling the world, coaching young people in the art of playing Scrabble.
Karen has also organised the World Youth Scrabble Championship annually since 2006, in her role chairing the Youth Committee of WESPA
