Association of British Scrabble Players

Steve Perry - Chairman

Steve Perry

Steve has been playing competitive Scrabble since 1989 after joining Redbridge Scrabble Club with son, Andrew, a year earlier. His wife, Jill, had done the research to find a club for Andrew and Steve volunteered to take him along. Both Andrew and Steve were quickly hooked and it was all Jill's fault! Jill does not play Scrabble and neither does second son Jonathan.

Steve was Chairman of the Tournament Organiser's Forum for a number of years and runs what has become the largest one day event in the calendar at Swindon in early March each year. He is also Chairman of Highworth Scrabble Club.

Away from Scrabble his sporting passion is tennis and other hobbies include supporting the Blades (Sheffield United), DIY, gardening, rambling and computing. He now has plenty of time for these things after retiring from Nationwide Building Society in March 2006 after 32 years.
