Craig Beevers

2014 World Scrabble Chamption, former ABSP Webmaster

Craig Beevers

Craig comes from Stockton-on-Tees in the north east of England.

He has been playing tournament Scrabble since late 2003. The previous 5 years Craig spent playing lots of word games in the college and university computer rooms. When he had some free time from playing games he studied maths at Sheffield Uni. Craig took a break from Scrabble to go on Countdown - winning series 57 in the second half of 2007. He then made the UK National final in 2008 finishing second, before winning the following year and placing 8th in his first World Championships.

As well as being an active international player Craig is also busy behind the scenes redesigning and maintaining websites and has a committee role with the ABSP and WESPA. He is organising the inaugural MSI Prague Scrabble tournament in December.

Away from Scrabble Craig is often seen walking in the countryside and is an enthusiastic photographer. Being very competitive he's interested in virtually every sport or game, supporting Durham CCC and being particularly keen on cricket. Craig enjoys a good computer game, typically RPGs or strategy games and has spent many an hour on Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Command & Conquer, Heroes of Might & Magic, Monkey Island and Little Big Adventure.
